
Knitting 101 – Simple Cowl
Learn to knit with us while making your own beautiful Cowl! You will
learn how to cast on stitch, the knit stitch, the purl stitch, and the bind off
stitch, reading a pattern and how to finish a project. No previous knitting
experience necessary. Held on two days to leave time for a little at home work.

What you will need: Size 8mm needles, 1 skein bulky yarn in your favorite color.

Rigid Heddle Weaving, 101
Interested in learning to weave? Create your own scarves, fabric, rugs, throws and more. In this class you'll experience the basics of weaving, color interaction, reading a draft, identifying parts of the loom, warp and weft, identifying appropriate materials, preparing the loom, tools and plan, warping the loom, wet finishing/fulling, steam pressing and more. Go home with your own handwoven cowl or scarf! No experience necessary.
$140 +tax. Materials and loom rental included. Limited seats available.

Knitting Thrum mittens
These really are a must! Learn to knit these wonderfully fluffy
and warm thrum mittens! You’ll learn to knit thrumming, cast off and on during
a project, Knitting with the magic loop method and picking up stitches. Students
must have beginner knitting experience with ribbing and decreasing. Held on two
days to leave time for a little at home work. Please choose 2 class dates to attend.
$70+tax per person.
All yarns are included.
You will need 3.75mm and 4.5mm circular needles with 16” loop.

Spinning 101
Learn
the basics of spinning on a wheel. You will learn how to draft and spin a
continuous thread. Some wheels are provided, but if you have a wheel bring your
own (please let us know if you will be needing a wheel). Spinning Materials are
included. No experience necessary.

Spinning Fractal Yarns
Up your spinning game! Fractal
spinning is creating a gradient self-striping yarn utilizing the colors of a
dyed braid. It only shows once you knit it up, producing delightful, colorful
stripes. A fun way to spin and something different to add to your skills
basket.

Weaving Study Group
We're trying something new here on the farm and would love to host a weave alone with other weavers while exploring various techniques and forcing ourselves to sample along the way! Each group session will be 3 meetings, once a month with a different technique explored each session. There are no grades or judging, show and tell is encouraged! Some experience is necessary. First technique to be determined.
$30+tax - cost covers print handouts and 3 meetings.

Drop Spindle Spinning
Learn one of the oldest forms of spinning fiber into yarn! In this class you'll learn how to prepare fiber, pre drafting, choosing a drop spindle, drop spindle mechanics and how to spin a consistent thread. We will also learn how to remove the spun thread and prepare it for use!
$65 + tax, drop spindle and kit included

Painting a Warp
In this class, we'll be discovering colorplay on warps! In this class we'll explore winding the warp, prepping the fibre for dye and discussing color interaction. using our broad pallet of acid powder dyes you'll create a colored warp of your own. We'll play with techniques and various setting proccesses. You'll leave the class with a new appreciation for color and your own hand dyed warp for a scarf. You will be winding your own warp for a scarf, in wool, in this class. All materials are provided. Warp is suitable for rigid heddle or floor looms.
$95+tax. Please wear clothing suitable for working with dye, tie backs for long hair and bring an apron. Each student is asked to bring a facemask as well.

Weaving with a Painted Warp
In this class, you'll take your previously dyed warp and learn how to place it on the rigid heddle or table loom. We'll discuss color interaction, which colors compliment, detract, wash out and pop in your chosen warp. We'll practice wet finishing techniques appropriate to your project.
$60+tax, weft to be purchased in house, riggid heddle and table loom rental included (1 table loom available). If you did not participate in the painted warp class, pre-painted/measured wool warps can be purchased for $40.

Wet Felting Flowers
Create beautiful felted flowers from fibre. Watch as a flower of your creation comes alive before your eyes. We'll play with both wet felting and needle felting. Explore color combinations and layering colors to create a 3-D felted flower.
$55+tax, all fibre and needles are included in cost. Bring a photo of a flower you're like to replicate or simply your imagination!
